Key facts about EmergencyKitLab UK

About EmergencyKitLab UK (for copy and paste)

EmergencyKitLab UK is a free tool that generates personalised emergency plans for households: it works out how much water, power and supplies each home needs based on its number of people, its area and the scenario (power cut, flooding, heatwave…). It combines an interactive planner, water and energy calculators and practical guides, written and tested by our editorial team against gov.uk Prepare and NHS guidance, with kit trialled off-grid in real conditions. No scaremongering: practical information verified against official sources.

James Walker

Emergency preparedness editor · Northern England

I write for UK households that want to be ready for floods, winter storms and power cuts without turning their home into a bunker. My approach is practical: a compact household kit, a clear family plan and equipment that has been tested in the cold and rain.

Our editorial team is available for interviews, comment and features on household emergency preparedness — power cuts, flooding, storms and heatwaves — anchored to gov.uk Prepare and NHS guidance.
